Three tickets cost €18. The standard Colosseum, Forum and Palatine ticket gives one timed entry to the first and second tiers and one entry to the Forum and the Palatine, both within 24 hours. The 24h Only Arena ticket gives 20 minutes on the arena floor at the booked time, through the Sperone Stern. The ticket includes the Forum and the Palatine within 24 hours before or after. Three Full Experience tickets cost €24 and last two consecutive days: the Colosseum once at the booked time, the Forum, the Palatine and the SUPER sites once. Full Experience Arena adds the arena floor. Full Experience Underground and Arena adds the underground with a park guide, and the arena floor; with the educational tour it is €32. Full Experience Attic adds the top tiers, open 8:30 to 14:30.

Hours from the Parco archeologico del Colosseo, read . Closed 25 December and 1 January. Free on the first Sunday of the month, 25 April, 2 June and 4 November, by queue at the ticket offices.

From 1 to 24 October, last admission is 17:30 and the park closes at 18:30. Inside that, each zone keeps its own last entry. The attic closes at 14:30 and the arena floor admits until 15:00 on the Full Experience Arena ticket. The underground admits until 16:40 and the 24h Only Arena until 18:00. From 25 October, last admission is 15:30 and the park closes at 16:30. The night visit admits until 21:50 on Tuesday and Thursday. The Domus Aurea, on its own ticket, admits until 15:30 Friday to Sunday.

Plan around: an afternoon slot in winter leaves no time for the Forum after the Colosseum. Do the Forum first.

Names and ID

Names, ID and changes

Every ticket is issued in the holder's name and is checked against an identity document at the gate. A ticket in another person's name is refused. One name change is allowed by midnight on the seventh day before the visit, only for a clerical error in the name, the wrong ticket type bought in the same transaction or a serious documented reason; the night visit allows no name change at all.

The standard and Full Experience tickets include 75 to 90 minutes inside the Colosseum, after which visitors must leave. The Forum and the Palatine have no time limit within the ticket's validity.

Plan around: book in the names on your passports. A name can be changed once, by midnight on the seventh day before the visit, and only for a clerical error in the name, the wrong ticket type bought in the same transaction or a serious documented reason.

Free days

Free days and reduced prices

The park is free on the first Sunday of the month, on 25 April, 2 June and 4 November. On free Sundays tickets are given out in order of arrival at two ticket offices. One is on Piazza del Colosseo, near the Temple of Venus and Rome; the other is at Largo della Salara Vecchia. The Forum Pass SUPER is not valid on free Sundays and the Domus Aurea is closed on the first Sunday.

EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay €2 for the standard and Full Experience tickets, with ID at the gate. The night visit has its own reduced price of €28.

Plan around: a free Sunday means a queue at two ticket offices and no underground or arena slots to book.

Booking

How to book Colosseum tickets

The official sale is the park's ticket shop, ticketing.colosseo.it. You choose the ticket, the day and the time slot, enter a name for each ticket and show the ticket with ID at the gate. The Full Experience Arena ticket is also sold at the ticket office on the day; the underground is sold online; free days are ticket office only.

Resellers and tour operators sell the same park tickets with a guide, a headset or a service fee on top. A tour price that says the Colosseum ticket is included means one of the eight tickets above; the tours we compare name which one.

Plan around: if the official shop shows no slots for your date, a tour with that zone inside is the other way in; operators hold group slots.
