About colosseumday.com
colosseumday.com is an independent guide to one park: the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill. The site gives the hours and the eight park tickets with the day each goes on sale, read from the park's own pages. Tours are compared in 16 lists, by the option you buy.

What this site is
A guide to visiting the Colosseum and the two sites on the same ticket. Nine place pages give each place's hours, ticket and tours. The tickets page gives the eight park tickets: prices, sale days and last entry. Directions follow the park's own page; the question pages answer what people ask before they go. Sixteen tour lists compare what each price includes.
It is not a blog and not a booking site. Tickets are sold by the park; tours by our partners. We write the comparison in between.
Where the figures come from
Hours, tickets, prices, sale rules and entrances come from the Parco archeologico del Colosseo. The sources are its opening-times page, ticket pages, ticket FAQ and directions page. They are re-read against the park's pages, and the date beside the hours board is the day of the last read. A figure the park does not publish is not on the site. That rules out a booking fee, a daily capacity, a walking time from Termini and a bag size, because the park's current pages give none.
Tour prices, hours, options, group sizes, ratings and review counts come from the operators' listings on Viator, read on the date shown under the tours. Review counts add Viator and Tripadvisor together, as the listings do.
How the tours are chosen
The pool is 148 Viator tours rated 4.5 or higher from at least 30 reviews: 107 with the Colosseum in the title, plus the golf cart and night tours of Rome that stop at the Colosseum. From the pool we pick by what each price buys and name the option we compare. The method is on the how we pick tours page.
Who writes it
Martin Pargeter writes and checks every page. He is from Bristol and lives in Rome. He spent five seasons at a tour meeting point by the Colosseum, checking tickets and time slots, and he writes in British English.
The tours are compared from the operators' listings; the editor has not taken each one. Corrections go to the address below.
Corrections
If a figure here differs from the park's page or a listing on the day you look, write in. Send the page, the figure and the source. The editor checks the source and updates the page the same day where possible.
Independence
colosseumday.com is independent of the Parco archeologico del Colosseo, of its ticket shop and of every tour operator. Tour bookings go through our partners at the partner's price; the site sells nothing itself. The details are on the disclosure page.
