The place
What is the Colosseum arena floor?
The original arena was a wooden floor covered in sand over the hypogeum. Today a partial platform rebuilt at the same level covers the eastern end, with the corridors of the underground open to view beside it. From the platform you look up at the tiers; from the tiers you look down on the platform and the exposed hypogeum.
On the 24h Only Arena ticket you enter through the Sperone Stern at the booked time. It is a separate timed entry from the main gate, so an arena visit is always a booked time, whether you come with a park ticket or a tour.
Plan around: the arena is a timed entry inside your 75 to 90 minutes in the building.

Adult prices from the official ticket shop, read . EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay €2 on the standard and Full Experience tickets. Every ticket is in the holder's name and checked against ID at the gate.
The Full Experience Arena ticket costs €24 and is valid for two consecutive days. It opens the Colosseum once, at the booked time, with the arena floor and the first and second tiers. It also gives one entry to the Forum, the Palatine and the SUPER sites. The last access to the arena on this ticket is 15:00 and the stay is 90 minutes. It goes on sale online 7 days before the visit, and the ticket office sells it on the day.
The 24h Only Arena ticket costs €18, or €11.50 with the Roma Pass. It gives 20 minutes on the floor at the booked time, through the Sperone Stern, and the Forum and Palatine within 24 hours before or after. The last access is 18:00. It does not include the tiers of the Colosseum.
EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay €2 on both tickets. Both tickets are nominative and checked against ID at the gate.

The route
How the arena visit works
You enter through the Sperone Stern at your booked time, walk a short corridor and come out on the platform. With the Full Experience Arena ticket you continue to the tiers afterwards; with the Only Arena ticket you leave after 20 minutes. Guided tours with the arena inside follow the same gate and the same clock, with the guide holding the group's slot.
The underground is a different ticket and a different route: the Full Experience Underground and Arena ticket includes the floor as well, with a park guide for the corridors below it.

How long do you spend on the arena floor?
On the 24h Only Arena ticket, 20 minutes. On the Full Experience Arena ticket the arena is part of a 90-minute visit that also covers the tiers. The four arena tours we would book last 1 h 30 to 3 hours in all, the Forum and the Palatine included.
Plan around: be at the gate 15 minutes before your slot; entry at a different time from the booking is not possible.
