Does Beyond the Landmarks go inside the Colosseum?

Rolling Rome's Beyond the Landmarks tour does not enter the Colosseum or Roman Forum. The Colosseum is an optional 15 minute exterior stop for views and photos. Choose that stop with your driver at the start. A 3 hour ride cannot cover every suggested stop.

What's included

All 4 departures exclude a Colosseum park ticket. The 9:30 and 15:00 rides last 3 hours; the 19:00 ride lasts 2 hours 30 minutes. The 7 hour ride leaves at 10:00 Monday to Saturday and includes a lunch break.

Do you need a separate ticket to enter the Colosseum?

The standard €18 park ticket covers the first and second Colosseum tiers. The same ticket includes the Forum and Palatine within 24 hours. Online sales open 30 days ahead. Your ticket: the 9:30 cart, €115; add a separate €18 ticket for an interior visit outside the tour.

   Choose your route with the driver at the start. These stops are choices; a 3 hour ride cannot cover them all.

2. Colosseum 15 min

   The Colosseum is a possible 15 minute exterior stop for views and photos. Entry inside is excluded from the ride.

3. Spanish Steps 10 min

   The Spanish Steps are a possible 10 minute stop if you choose this part of Rome. The route is agreed with your driver.

4. Giardino degli Aranci 10 min

   Giardino degli Aranci is a possible 10 minute stop for views across Rome's rooftops. The garden is on the Aventino hill.

5. Piazza Navona 10 min

   Piazza Navona is a possible 10 minute stop at the square and its fountain. The square follows the shape of Domitian's stadium.

6. Villa Borghese 15 min

   Villa Borghese is a possible 15 minute stop in the park. The suggested route also passes the Pincian hill.

7. Fontana dell'Acqua Paola 5 min

   Fontana dell'Acqua Paola is a possible 5 minute stop on the Janiculum Hill. The fountain overlooks Trastevere.

8. Trastevere

   Trastevere can form part of your chosen route through Rome's streets. This is a pass-by option.

9. Piazza Venezia / Ancient City 10 min

   Piazza Venezia is a possible 10 minute stop on the private route. Your driver includes the square if it fits your chosen stops.

10. Teatro di Marcello 10 min

    Teatro di Marcello is a possible 10 minute stop during the ride. The theatre is older than the Colosseum.

11. Caelian Hill 20 min

    Caelian Hill is a possible 20 minute stop, with Villa Celimontana among the places to choose. The route depends on the time available.

12. Ghetto 10 min

    The Ghetto is a possible 10 minute stop in Rome's Jewish quarter. Your driver can include the area in the route you choose.

Cancellation policy

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. Later cancellations get no refund. Bookings are confirmed at once. Rolling Rome runs in rain or sunshine, with rain covers fitted to the carts. The cancellation terms also allow cancellation for bad weather.

Know before you go

• The adult fare applies from age 3, with at least 2 paying participants per booking. Infants aged 0 to 2 cost €0 on the compared option. The booking limit is 1 infant.
• The usual 6-seat cart includes the driver: 4 seats face forwards and 2 face backwards. Larger groups use multiple carts, each with a tour leader; the booking limit is 15 people.
• A wheelchair can be carried without an extra charge for bookings of up to 3 participants. Pushchairs and service animals are allowed.
• Each cart takes 1 baby seat in the middle seat beside a parent. The carts also have seat belts and side protection.
• For a separate Colosseum visit, bring ID matching the name on your ticket. Arrive at the gate 15 minutes before the slot on a standard €18 ticket.
• Walking shoes suit a separate park visit; high heels and flip-flops are unsuitable. Hold children by the hand and stay on marked paths inside the park.
• From 1 to 24 October, last admission is 17:30 and the park closes at 18:30. These hours apply to a separate interior visit, including after a cart ride.
• Colosseum and Roman Forum admission are excluded from every cart option. Tips are excluded too. The 7 hour option includes a lunch break; bottled water is included on the tour.
